Look! The DEBESMSCAT Supreme Student Council (SSC) and College Student Council (CSC) Officers, in collaboration with the CSC Officers, conducted a Clean-up Drive on August 10, 2025, around the DEBESMSCAT Mandaon Campus, embodying the spirit of unity, volunteerism, and environmental stewardship. The activity aimed to promote environmental awareness and responsibility among students through their direct participation in a community clean-up effort. Moreover, this initiative reflects the institution’s strong support for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3 Good Health and Well-being, by fostering a cleaner and healthier environment for the community; SDG 11 Sustainable Cities and Communities, by contributing to a safe, clean, and livable campus; SDG 13 Climate Action, by taking proactive measures to address environmental challenges and mitigate the effects of climate change; and SDG 15 Life on Land, by protecting and enhancing the quality of local land ecosystems.
DEBESMSCAT Opens A.Y 2025–2026 with a Vibrant ASEAN Month Kick-off! August 11, 2025 — The first day of classes at DEBESMSCAT was nothing short of colorful and meaningful as we officially welcomed Academic Year 2025–2026 with an ASEAN Month celebration!
Led by our very own SUC President, Dr. Arnel B. Millesca, together with the college officials, deans, faculty, and staff, we warmly greeted new and returning DEBESians dressed in vibrant ASEAN-inspired outfits — celebrating unity, cultural appreciation, and academic excellence.
The day started with our flag ceremony, the raising of the ASEAN flag, and the singing of the ASEAN Hymn — a symbol of our solidarity with our Southeast Asian neighbors. This year, the SSC and CSC officers had a special role: they were assigned to raise the flag of the country that matched their traditional attire — making the moment more meaningful and visually vibrant. In his message, Dr. Millesca encouraged us to embrace diversity and build cross-cultural understanding to prepare ourselves as globally competitive graduates. Dr. Nikki Faith Bantillo, our International Relations Officer, also gave an inspiring talk about ASEAN’s role in promoting cooperation and shared prosperity.
Of course, the SSC and CSCs were in action all throughout the celebration! BPED Students with SSC and CSCs performed the lively Unity Dance, set up a fun photo booth for everyone, and helped in distributing free snacks and breakfast meals — because celebrations are best enjoyed with good food and good company! Our marching band kept the festive vibe alive, while students proudly showcased their ASEAN spirit through our Best ASEAN Attire competition.
It was a day of joy, culture, and camaraderie. Starting the semester alongside ASEAN Month reminds us that being a DEBESian is not just about academic growth — it’s about being globally aware, culturally proud, and socially responsible.

One of the highlights of the night was the announcement of the Mini Vlog Competition Winners, presented by Hon. Darl Byron A. Bencalo, SSC Commission on Networking and Information. The winners were recognized for their creativity, storytelling, and embodiment of the DEBESian values.
The event was further energized by a series of intermission numbers from various colleges: the soulful performance of the College of Education, the lively act from the College of Agriculture, the creative showcase of the College of Arts and Sciences, the electrifying vibe of the College of Engineering, and the dynamic energy of the College of Industrial Technology. Each number reflected the unique talents and culture of every department, proving that DEBESians are not only academically excellent but also artistically gifted.

The raffle brought anticipation, cheers, and joy to the crowd, making the event even more memorable.
Beyond the fun, performances, and prizes, SALUBONG 2025 stood as a powerful reminder of what it means to be a DEBESian — to ignite unity, embrace diversity, and carry pride in belonging to a community that celebrates inclusivity, leadership, and excellence.
More than just a welcome celebration, this event embodied Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality Education, by offering spaces for creativity, collaboration, and community engagement. Through activities like the Mini Vlog Competition and D’ BAZAAR, students were given opportunities to grow in confidence, digital literacy, and leadership.
