Gilded Shores is a story-driven adventure game in which the player is stranded on an island, and must converse with the locals and solve puzzles to rebuild their boat and escape.
Various tools are available to the player throughout, such as a shovel to dig up treasure chests, and a grappling hook to reach new heights.
This game was made by myself and 29 other students, split across both the Stoke and London campuses, as part of my Junior Collaborative Development module at University of Staffordshire.
I worked primarily as a systems designer, stepping in when our tech team needed extra manpower to implement the features we needed. These primarily included the grappling hook and zipline mechanics, which I implemented by myself (minus the art assets for each).
However, I also had to volunteer as a level designer and a narrative designer at various points, as our team lacked specialists in these areas and I have some experience in each. I designed the cave area that another member would go on to build, and wrote most of the dialogue for the locals.
