Amalgamage is a 3-on-3, turn-based battler in which the player controls groups of magical blobs to fight distinct sets of enemy blobs.
Five blob types - elements - are available, but only three can be taken into each battle, adding an extra layer of strategy alongside the Pokémon-esque elemental type advantage system I implemented.
Players can merge blobs together to create new dual-type blobs with better stats and unique abilities, hence the title.
This project was created by myself and seven other Gameplay Design and Production students for University of Staffordshire's Rapid Games Design module.
I was one of two producers for Amalgamage. I served as scrum master, setting tasks based on goals that the other producer set which the rest of the team would then complete. Part of this role also involved taking meeting notes that the group could then reflect upon.
Alongside this, I also created the framework upon which myself and several other developers were able to implement the rest of the game's feature set, designed a full roster of abilities for all 15 types of blob, and had a hand in concepting the overall battle system alongside our other systems designers.
Finally, I stepped in as a technical artist on the side, creating SDF-based, shader-driven UI for other systems like blob health and mana in order to further polish the game.
