"Wonderous World"
𝄞SunsetPiano 29 Extra Verses 2025.
(Based on 1967 song by Bob Thiele and George David Weiss. Made Famous by Louis Armstrong.)
This ballad tries to show that the world can be full of joy even when it's shadowed by sorrow. You’ll hear the refrain line—'I hear babies cry'—repeated with a few variations. It’s a line that reflects a deep, complicated part of my lonely story.
But I've found that even in that pain, “my heart still longs, and the world’s still wonderous.”
Lyrics
♫ Verse 1
I see trees of green, Red roses too. /
I see them bloom, For me and you.
♫ Verse 2
I see skies of blue, And great clouds of white. /
The bright blessed days, and the cold dark nights.
♫ Verse 3
Though my nights are long, when my heart feels sore, /
The world whispers softly, “there’s so much beauty and more.”
♫ Verse 4
Alone on my journey, so weary, I find, /
The world shares wonderous marvels, that quiet my mind.
♫ Verse 5 (Baby Refrain Verse 1)
I hear babies cry, Watch them grow. /
They'll learn much more, Than I'll ever know.
♫ Verse 6
The whisper of dreams, That have yet to come true, /
My future would be brighter, if I could found you.
♫ Verse 7
I see lonely nights, and days without end,
/ The hope for a partner, the world will not send.
♫ Verse 8
I watch candles burn, their flames glowing bright,
/ While my room stays empty, each cold, endless night.
♫ Verse 9
A sunrise is painting, The heavens in gold,
/ A new day begins, new stories unfold.
♫ Verse 10
Oh my heart still longs, Yet somehow I see,
/ The world holds its wonder, And it still offers me.
♫ Verse 11
I hear stories told, of joy and of pain,
/ Each life’s fleeting moments, are like drops in the rain.
♫ Verse 12
I see hands reach out, with kindness they give,
/ Reminding my heart, there’s still reason to live.
♫ Verse 13 (Baby Refrain Verse 2)
I hear babies crying, I see what their future holds,
/ They’ll shape the world, In ways that I’ll never know.
♫ Verse 14
Though silence surrounds me, dark shadows remain,
/ At least there’s sorrow in music, and grace in pain.
♫ Verse 15
Though suffering haunts me, and my burdens grow tall,
/ This world still feels wondrous, in spite of it all.
♫ Verse 16
Though I walk in sorrow, life’s truths are revealed,
/ The gift of existence is not a battlefield.
♫ Verse 17
I ache for the love, I may never obtain,
/ This world whispers hope, through joy and through pain.
♫ Verse 18
I see friendships bloom, but I still go astray,
/ The weight of my soul seems to be drifting away.
♫ Verse 19
I watch families gather, their tables are full, /
Oh the ache in my chest, is quiet and cruel.
♫ Verse 20 (Baby Refrain Verse 3)
I hear babies cry, I see their bright eyes glow,
/ They’ll dream of worlds, I’ll never know.
♫ Verse 21
I hear voices sing, soft lullabies,
/ Songs full of hope, beneath endless diamond skies.
♫ Verse 22
I see children laugh, then stumble and fall,
/ Learning through pain, answering life's call.
♫ Verse 23 (Baby Refrain Verse 4)
I hear babies crying, I think; "what a great life"
/ So joyous and sweet, oh I still dream for a wife.
♫ Verse 24
I hear my gentle prayers, that I whispered at night,
/ Carrying deep sorrow, yet burning with light.
♫ Verse 25
I see people smile, like they’re not burdened with cares,
/ The strength of the spirit, is so wondrous and rare.
♫ Verse 26
I hear footsteps fade, of those gone before,
/ Their echoes remind me that life’s worth so much more.
♫ Verse 27
I see kindness bloom, in places so small,
/ Thoses tiny acts of love, feel the greatest of all.
♫ Verse 28
I hear laughter ring out, but then the silence descends,
/ Reminding me that life is always beginning to end.
♫ Verse 29
I see life fleeting, slipping from my grasp,
/ Yet leaves me with much wonder, how long will it last?
♬ Chorus
So I sing to myself, "What a wonderous world."
