Complex manganoan calcite crystals from Huanzala mine in the Ancash region of Peru.

From a mixed matrix which contains numerous pyrite crystals sits a rather complex gathering of mangano calcite crystals. Some are in a traditional form of sharp angled cubic crystals, while other parts of the surface are rippled, much like the surface of a beach where the waves come and go.

The challenge to taking fluorescent pictures of this material is that the fluorescence is so bright that the individual detail is lost. Midwave UV exposure in pictures 2-3; longwave in 4-5; shortwave in 6-7. I chose to lead with LW and MW as the details of the crystal formation are better seen in these two wavelengths.
