The most common reasons were situational, not dissatisfaction:
Gender balance / partner availability
Some dancers are unable to attend because of the lead/follow balance policy.
Music and DJ preferences
A minority would like greater consistency or different musical emphasis.
Frequency & scheduling
Conflicts with other milongas, personal availability, or timing.
Distance / travel / energy levels
Particularly for regular attendance rather than occasional visits.
Dancing less tango at present
Life stage or shifting priorities rather than issues with the event itself.
Key takeaway:
People are not avoiding Tango@t’Shed – they’re juggling competing factors.
Based on your feedback, here’s what we’re doing to make Tango@t’Shed even better — while keeping the spirit you value.
Clarifying our musical identity
We’ll be clearer about the music you can expect, and we’ll offer clearly labelled themed or guest-DJ nights so you can choose what suits you best.
Supporting balance & inclusivity
We’ll continue to encourage a friendly, inclusive dance floor where people feel comfortable coming alone or with friends.
We know some dancers find it hard to book when they don’t already have a partner. We’re aware of this and are actively working on ways to make booking easier while keeping a good dance balance, including promoting further afield.
Creating gentle “anchor moments”
From time to time we’ll mark special evenings (a class prior to the freestyle, guest DJs, tango showcases) to bring people together and give certain nights an extra lift. Ideas are welcome.
Keeping what makes Tango@t’Shed special
We’re committed to the relaxed, caring, community-focused atmosphere that many of you told us you love. We’re refining, not reinventing.
Listening and responding
We’ll keep listening to your feedback and making thoughtful, proportionate changes as the event grows.
We know the floor was occasionally sticky in the past, but this has now been addressed, and the floor is cleaned and treated to ensure a comfortable dancing surface. We will continue to work with the venue to ensure this continues.
· Committing to an event and then being unable to attend. We plan to offer flexible Booking Options
Tango@t’Shed grows best when we grow it together — your presence, kindness, and dancing are what make the evening.
