Timeline

1939

Signal Group is formed by the American Government to investigate and counter instances of High Strangeness, with the primary goal of stopping the activities of Thule Society and the Ahnenerbe Group.

Internal reports from Nazi Germany report on the activities of a strange cult within the recently occupied province of Moravia. They can be identified by their distinct markings resembling the Alchemical Sulphur symbol.

Majestic agents confirm a rise in activity by Sulphur Cultists; they intercepted several shipments of what appeared to be Silphium, a plant used by the cult in their strange rituals. 

The Thule Society is exposed as a front for the Sulphur Cult, leading to several raids against them. All their research materials are taken by the Ahnenerbe. Conflicting information by Majestic spies indicate that it could have perhaps been a premeditated action by the Ahnenerbe to eliminate the Thule Society. 

Signal Group coordinated several operations with Majestic, dealing with several minor instances of High Strangeness. Learning from Majestic and the Genevincian Order, on dealing with these anomalous situations. 

1942

Signal Group and Majestic succeed in stopping the Schwarzsonne Project, an attempt by the Ahnenerbe to resurrect an entity from a Black Sarcophagus. Upon retrieval it was code named Typhon, it was quickly shipped over back to America.

1944

Several American pilots report strange aerial sightings, known as “Foo Fighters” ; these unidentified flying objects would be tracked by Signal Group. Their advanced propulsion systems appeared to even surpass the strange technology used by the Nazi's in the construction of Die Glocke.

1947

An unidentified flying object crashed near Roswell New Mexico, the wreckage was taken by Signal to an undisclosed location for further examination. It would be classified as of alien origin. 

Several Signal personnel that had been present for the recovery and handling of the unidentified object, reported being visited by strange “Men in black” following the incident in Roswell. Signal would successfully capture a pair of these “Men in black” as they attempted to enter the home of a Signal Researcher. Interrogation attempts proved fruitless, although upon inspection a strange symbol was found on the back of their heads, they were tagged with “Heritage for the Future”.

1953

The CIA begins to experiment with Silphium obtained from the Sulphur Cult, their initial goal was to produce sleeper agents, although this would quickly shift to observing the High Strangeness properties of the plant and its effects on those that consume it.

1954

Signal Group and Heritage for the Future signed the Greada treaty, bringing an end to the brutal clandestine clashes between the two groups within American soil. Furthermore the Heritage for the Future Group would provide technological assistance to the American Government, in return for being allowed to hollow out and build a deep underground base in Dulce, New Mexico. 

1960

The CIA would shut down project MK Ultra, following an internal purge of compromised agents that had been regularly consuming the Silphium plant. Despite the CIA's best efforts a handful of former agents would manage to evade capture, leading to the creation of the CIA Red List. A set of documents handed out to other agencies, detailing the former agents, all in hopes of apprehending them or neutralizing them.

1962

Signal and Majestic launch a joint operation to wipe out a Sulphur Cult stronghold in Centralia, Pennsylvania. Operation Copperhead would succeed in wiping out the cult presence, but at the cost of the whole town being evacuated, as the Sulphur cultists would ignite a mine fire during the skirmish underground. The town is still to this day heavily monitored and patrolled by Signal Operators. 

As the Cuban Missile crisis loomed, the United States Government authorized the proposed Layers Project, the goal was to construct several underground habitats that would all be interconnected via railways. The project would only be partially begun by the end of the year.

1968

A series of killings would occur in the San Francisco Bay area, which would go on to be attributed to the Zodiac Killer. This mad man would be flagged by Signal and the CIA as one of the last remaining targets on the Red List.

The Layers project would be concluded, with several major zones established all across North America, in anticipation of a full blown nuclear war. The layers were left with room to be further expanded upon.

1969

Apollo 11 successfully lands on the moon, a momentous moment for all mankind. One whose significance would only further be compounded by the crew's true mission. They would survey and leave the ground works for the ambitious Moon Base project. Marking the tentative first steps for mankind to live off-world. 

Despite Signal and the CIA's best efforts the Zodiac Killer would vanish, many theories would be presented as to where the killer might have gone, but none proved substantial in any way. His final notes were never released publicly, as they continued references to what appears to be the Great Enemy spoken about by the Sulphuric cult, and along with it strange and garbled references to a great Ziggurat under a broken moon.

1975

Majestic operators investigated the reappearance of the village of Imber, a village which was documented as burned down by a Sulphur Cult ritual in 1943, the village appeared perfectly intact. No signs of life were found by Majestic. When consulting with Genevincian experts, it was recommended that the village was to be left alone, a perimeter guard unit alongside a small team of ordained exorcists would be stationed with them to monitor the situation.

The ground works for Moon Base Tycho would gradually continue to be expanded by subsequent missions. Signal would request permission to store physical anomalies and dormant aberrations on the moon, the request would be denied. 

1977

The United States army begins work on project Stargate, with the research gathered from the CIA's MK Ultra, the army would attempt to create soldiers with the ability to use Psionics. It was believed that certain individuals could tap into the immaterial reality, the Noosphere, through Cognition abilities. 

1979

The treaty of Greada is broken, as personnel tasked with expanding the joint area of the Dulce Base stumble upon the remains of countless humans suspended in large tanks filled with strange fluids. Several fire fights break out leading to the deaths of several American soldiers and base personnel. Signal Group would be tasked with crippling the facility as the American armed forces launched a second assault against the forces of the Heritage Group. Signal would succeed in sabotaging key machinery and systems within the base, as the main battle was slowly won by the American armed forces.

1980

The Soviet Omega Group begins construction on a machine that would allow them to view the future, a Chronovisor. 

DARPA and Signal collaborate on the construction of a Hololuminescent Cannon, code named Blue Beam, it would be powerful enough to project a perfect replica of the night sky viewable from across the world at night. 

1985

The facility housing the Soviet Chronovisor is destroyed by an unknown cause, details remain unclear.

1987

Following the disaster in Chernobyl, a follow up investigation team sent deep within the remains of the facility retrieved strange fungal samples from the Elephant Foot, this fungus was able to not just survive in the extreme conditions, but also propagate off of the nuclear radiation.

The Soviet would experiment with this fungus, finding that it could take partial aspects of the material it consumed, furthermore these later samples showed no inherent radioactive properties. It was found that the application of salt would damage the fungus, any area salted would be avoided by it.

1990

The United Nations forms UNACO, in response to the uptick of High Strangeness. They would successfully, although with the help of Signal and Majestic, deal with the Aberrations known as “Aigamuxa” that had been terrorizing several communities within Sub-Saharan Africa.

1991

With the collapse of the Soviet Union, Signal, Majestic, and UNACO moved in to help the remains of Omega Group. They would oversee and maintain all facilities while Omega Group recovered its footing. Any facility deemed too compromised to be maintained would be scrapped, all anomalies and aberrations would be sent to other facilities across the world. Signal retrieves samples of the strange fungus during this time.

During the Gulf War several service men would go missing, many of these men having been subjected at a young age to project Marduk, which was part of the overall Stargate Project conducted and concluded by the United States army in the late 70's. 

1997

Over the skies of Phoenix, Arizona, several massive light formations were seen above the city. The Heritage Group had been in a standoff with Signal and the American government, Heritage Group demanded to have their leader released from Signal custody or the city of Phoenix would be bombarded by their Vessels. The American government would quickly move to arrange this with Signal. An open engagement with the Heritage ship would be far too risky to do in the open.

Signal would launch later that year a series of brutal retaliatory attacks against Heritage, aided by an inside mole within the Heritage Group. Leading to the death of several key Heritage figure heads. It would culminate with Alexander taking control of Heritage and brokering a fragile peace between the two groups.

1999

A massive coordinated operation is launched between Signal, Majestic, UNACO, and several smaller groups to prevent the Sulphur Cult from utilizing the “Soul Cube” (anomaly SC-978-22) a strange artifact recovered from an excavation site on Moon Base Tycho, upon inspection by the excavation team it would “teleport” its signal would be picked quickly by all groups involved in high strangeness on Earth. The joint operation would succeed in stopping the Sulphur Cult, but it would result in the seeming destruction of the Soul Cube.

2003

During the invasion of Iraq, the United States government would dispatch a mission to investigate the Ziggurat of Ur, for a supposed “Star Gate” that was being refurbished by the Iraqi government. No such anomaly would be found, all members involved in this operation would over the course of the following year vanish without a trace.

A series of mysterious and unexplained blackouts would sweep across the whole of the UK, although documented by Majestic and a handful of individuals, it is not widely remembered nor noted by Signal or UNACO. 

2008

Several mass blackouts would be reported across the world by numerous individuals, they would be documented by Signal, Majestic, and other organizations across the world. Multiple anecdotal stories would follow from individuals that had supposedly lived through a week long event in which the sun vanished, they would be the sole survivors in their communities. 

2010

The first encounter between the Neo-Babylonians and the Heritage Group was documented in 2010 in the remote reaches of the Caucasus. Neo-Babylon had found a Heritage facility that was being observed by a joint effort between Omega Group (a Russian-based counter High Strangeness group similar to Signal or Majestic) and UNACO. By the time the response team was able to reach the area, it was completely lost. The Neo-Babylonians had set explosive charges that buried the facility under rubble. It was believed that the facility held several artifacts of high strangeness, perhaps that was a reason as to why they attacked. 

2012

Across the world instances of High Strangeness saw a severe uptick, speculation on whether it is related to the Mayan Calendar prophecy. Activity from the Sulphur Cult and the Neo-Babylonians intensified near the end of the year. 

2013

Operation: Storm Giant

15th of June  2013.

UNACO's Operation Storm Giant was launched in an attempt to uproot a sulfur cult operating in Romania and recover any artifacts they had, as well as an extremely valuable artifact called the Trumpet. It would fail catastrophically, with only two members of the strike team surviving the ordeal: a rookie who goes by the callsign "Point Man" and a Genevincian Chaplain known as Father Townsend. Father Townsend had been assigned to the squad at the request of their commanding officer, as the methods and rites of the Genevincian order had proven effective against the Noosphere manipulation abilities of the Sulphur cultists. According to their accounts, their team was slowly and systematically picked off during the course of their operations. Despite the setback, they did manage to blow up the cult's compound. This inadvertently led to a wildfire that would devastate several small villages before it was subdued and controlled by local authorities. Despite their actions, the operation was deemed a failure, as the UN Security Council had hoped that they would be able to search the Sulphur Cult site and recover any artifacts that they might have kept there, with the primary priority having been the retrieval of the Trumpet, which had been stolen from a transport plane earlier that year by the Sulphur Cult. It would somehow end up in the possession of the Omega Group, which was later recovered by Signal that same year.

Operation: Hidden Reaper

September 6th, 2013.

Signal a raid on an Omega Group base located in Syria. Mission objectives: securing Anomaly GT 212-17 "Trumpet". Recent reports have indicated that the Neo-Babylonians and the Heritage are converging on the Omega Group facility. Due to the region's current instability, all parties involved have engaged in open hostilities with no regard for secrecy. Omega Group has failed to respond to our diplomatic channels offering assistance to them. As such, it has been decided that the Trumpet is far too valuable to fall into enemy hands. Fafnir Team has been dispatched to deal with the situation. They are authorized to neutralize any opposition.

Fafnir Team was successful in retrieving the Trumpet. Of note were the actions of Corporal Wilhelm K. Rosenwächter. He distinguished himself during crucial moments of the operation, even successfully neutralizing several Juggernauts of Ur during the height of the conflict within the Omega Group base.

2015

Samples of the Chernobyl Fungus are stolen from Signal, they are procured by SanMontes, a major player in the food industry. Early tests show that the Fungus can take the properties of grains and other agricultural products. 

2017

In the summer of 2017, a massive black sarcophagus was discovered in the Sidi Gaber district of Alexandria, Egypt, by the UNACO, sharing an eerie resemblance to the one recovered from the Ahnenerbe by Signal. They would extract the genuine artifact and dispatch it to a hidden facility in eastern Africa. In the following decade, it would exchange hands between several organizations, finally ending up in the custody of the Red Lotus. 

2024

Operation: Broken Light

Date: 15th, August,  2024

Location: Hakova, Kosovo

Commanding Officer: Jack James Kelly

Mission: Conduct a raid on a confirmed Heritage base situated beneath an abandoned village in Kosovo. The primary priority is to neutralize the cell, secondary is to capture any member of the cell alive if possible for interrogation, thirdly the retrieval of any object of High Strangeness. Lastly, although the village is relatively remote, it is important to keep collateral damage to a minimum, as the UN Security Council has expressed an interest in surveying the Heritage facility.

2027

November 5, 2027. Several nuclear detonations erupted  from the heart of the Chinese capital of Beijing, leaving hundreds of thousands dead and hundreds of thousands more injured and homeless. The tragedy would be compounded as the subsequent deaths from the fallout took their toll. It would mark the beginning of a devastating trend for the 21st century, as the Beijing Tragedy would be the first salvo in a series of humanitarian disasters.

Unfortunately, due to the uncertainty of the cause of the event, it has led to the rise of several harmful conspiracy theories about the cause of the detonation, with one of the most popular being the actions of a bizarre terrorist organization known as Neo-Babylon or a deliberate attack from the Americans to decapitate the CCP and destroy China. These harmful rumors have galvanized a significant number of people on the topic.

Operation Lost and found, 5th January 2028.

Successful retrieval of Object 11-A, codename "Charon". Details are as follows: It is the content of the Black Sarcophagus, a 14-foot-tall humanoid with an elongated cranium that was submerged in the red luminescent fluid of the Sarcophagus. Prior to the Beijing Tragedy, it had regained consciousness and proceeded to assault the staff within the Red Lotus facility, using the Yecha as its soldiers and any test subjects that had been experimented on with its fluid. This included the head of the CCP, Xun, who had consumed the fluid after witnessing its restorative properties. Agent Jane Ko, a Signal Operative who had infiltrated the Red Lotus, sent out a distress signal informing Signal of the situation. This would eventually lead to the destruction of the facility. Signal would return one year later in search of any High Strangeness remains, Garmr Team would find the horrifically obliterated remains of the King Bat, although first thought deceased, it would quickly be discovered that the remains of the Charon were still alive, it's body slowly repairing itself. 

2030

The Bloodletting War: It is well known that the Neo-Babylonians and the Sulphur Cult despise each other, often engaging in brutal, covert battles across their hidden bases worldwide. Unfortunately, the Sulphur Cult has been severely weakened by the Neo-Babylonians' relentless and brutal attacks. While the Sulphur Cult's goals and methods are deplorable, they are far more discreet in their operations compared to the terrorist attacks of the Neo-Babylonians. It would be the worst possible outcome for them to come out as the Neo-Babylonians emerged victorious.

As of 2030, the Neo-Babylonians have successfully captured several Sulphur Cult strongholds across Europe.

Operation Stardust

December 1, 2030

Joint Space Force and Signal Operation to infiltrate and capture the major Heritage Space asset known as the Black Knight Satellite in retaliation for the assassinations of several government officials not only in the United States but also in its allies.

Garmr Team will be dispatched to conduct the operation. They have been explicitly ordered to attempt to capture any Heritage leadership for enhanced interrogation.

After-action report: Operation Stardust was a poorly conceived failure. Although Garmr Team was successful in breaching the Black Knight Satellite, their actions would set forth a cataclysmic series of events. In retaliation, the Heritage would use the Black Knight Satellite's onboard power source device, referred to as a Daemon Core, to neutralize nearly all satellites circulating the world, with only a dozen specialized American satellites surviving the attack. The issue would be further compounded as the satellites began to plummet down to Earth. Furthermore, during the fighting on board the Black Knight, the Heritage leader, Alexander, gravely wounded a Garmr Team member, Elijah. Wilhelm would proceed to execute Alexander without permission following that. Unfortunately, this set off the self-destruct sequence on board the Black Knight, leading to the destruction of the Heritage Satellite. Garmr managed to escape in time, and their ship managed to avoid the debris from the destruction of the Black Knight Satellite that fell towards Earth.

The subsequent damage caused by the falling satellites and Black Knight debris in addition to the world wide communication outage would be devastating, in addition to all this the detonation of the Daemon Core in orbit had caused a massive world wide power outage that would last for weeks if not months in certain regions. All of this would also compound on the already unstable situation that was the catalyst for operation Stardust, the assassinations of several world wide leaders and officials. 

Elijah, among other members of Signal, had protested the brashness of Operation Stardust. He only went along with it out of loyalty to his fellow teammates. It nearly cost him his life. Elijah and several Signal operatives would defect shortly after and form a splinter group known as the Atlantis Initiative. They would go on to try and disclose as much High Strangeness information as possible to the public, as they believed that it is this hidden world that holds too much power over the lives of the average person. Ignorance is not bliss, and the truth must be exposed; otherwise, the foolish actions of a few could, as seen, condemn millions to death
