With NMACLRC’s strategic location along Sayre Highway, Malaybalay City, the Center is conferred by the Department of Tourism (DOT) as an Agri-tourism Hub serving local and interregional clients. This is in line with the DA-10 Research Division commitment in moving towards its transformation as a competitive, multi-faceted Research for Development facility for technology generation, transfer and adoption.
Aside from conducting agricultural research projects, the NMACLRC produces quality seeds and planting materials of the following crops: white potato G0 seeds and minitubers, sweet potato cuttings, cassava stake, adlay seeds, soybean, peanut, mungbean seeds, high-value and indigenous vegetable seeds, upland rice and OPV corn seeds.
Meanwhile, the NMACRLC for livestock, formerly known as the Malaybalay Stock Farm, conducts studies on livestock development and animal health and nutrition. Forage, pasture grasses and legumes are produced and distributed to major livestock growing areas. In support to the livestock artificial insemination (AI) program in region 10, semen of quality breeds of goat, sheep and cattle are collected, processed and distributed to livestock growers. The Liquid Nitrogen Plant of the research complex, with the capacity to produce 32-35 liters of liquid nitrogen per day supports the AI program which ensures availability of quality semen stocks of superior livestock breeds.
The eleven (11) units of state-of-the-art smart greenhouse facility, which is funded by the South Korean government through its Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (MAFRA) in partnership with the government of the Philippines’ Department of Agriculture features the Smart Greenhouse Technology for innovative production of strawberry, cherry tomato and white potato.
