The Department of Agriculture RFO-10 Research Division traces its roots in 1991 as the then Northern Mindanao Integrated Agricultural Research Center (NOMIARC) by virtue of the DA Administrative Orders No. 6 and 19 series of 1991. The Order mandated the creation and operationalization of respective Regional Integrated Agricultural Research Centers (RIARC) System for R&D all over the country. In the same year, NOMIARC was designated as the RIARC for the Northern Mindanao region.
In 2015, with the approval and implementation of the DA Rationalization Plan under Executive Order No. 366, NOMIARC was reorganized and renamed as the Research Division with 3 Research Centers –
1. The NMACLRC or the Northern Mindanao Agricultural Crops and Livestock Research Complex (which is the merger of the former NOMIARC and Malaybalay Stock Farm) in Dalwangan, Malaybalay City;
2. The RCUD or the Research Center for Upland Development (formerly the Bukidnon Agricultural Productivity Complex (BAPC) in Barongcot, Dangcagan, Bukidnon and
3. The RCHD or the Research Center for Hillyland Development (formerly the Claveria Experminet Station (CES) at Lanise, Claveria, Misamis Oriental.
Meanwhile, the Regional Crop Protection Center (RCPC), which was previously within the Research structure, was transferred under the direct supervision of the DA RFO-10 Regional Management for service as the regional arm for crop pest surveillance, monitoring, control and management.
