For Spring 2025, I enrolled in LIS 5900, Action Research in Libraries. This class gave me the experience of drafting a proposal for a participatory research project. It was a complex assignment, with a lot of parts: including ethics, literature review, research methods, and peer review.
I chose to focus on a subject that was important to me: creating opportunities for autistic people to socialize in an accepting and non-judgmental space. I envisioned a project between participant-researchers who would collaboratively create a book club administered by and for autistic readers.
