I am enrolled for Fall 2025 in LIS 5322, Information Sources and Services. I look forward to learning about analyzing data to make decisions about a library.
One of the ways that I currently put this ability into practice is through paying attention to what types of books are most frequently checked out from the library where I work. This information informs my decisions to purchase books in certain formats. For example, graphic novels account for the majority of all books checked out from the library, so I try to keep the collection up-to-date with recently published graphic novels. I also use collection analysis to locate titles that are out of date and have low circulation. Removing older books is just as important as purchasing current titles.
