One of William Shakespeare's earliest and shortest plays, The Comedy of Errors, set in Ephesus (modern-day Turkey), is the journey of Antipholus and Dromio of Syracuse, each part of a set of twins, as they search for their long lost brothers in Ephesus. Cases of mistaken identity set off a series of chaotic events, including the arrest of one brother and an almost betrayal of one of the Antipholus twins' wife. The play resolves with the reuniting of the sets of twins with each other, the twins with their parents, and the resolving of the day's problems.

With The Comedy of Errors I learned about the concept of quatrains, which grabs the attention of the audience and establishes meaning to the dialogue being spoken. I also learned about why adaptions of plays and source materials may keep certain details and omit others. Additionally, I learned several new words and concepts, such as the pronunciation of "è" which adds an additional symbol to the word it is used in.
This play matters to me and others because as one of Shakespeare's first plays and comedies it acts as a foundation for theatre at this time. It also matters to me because I really enjoyed reading the shenanigans that take place in the play and seeing how the characters' lives are affected.
When evaluating my performance as a learner, I find that activities in and out of class, including Perusall, group readings, and discussion posts, help me in better understanding the material, which in turn allows me to produce better assignment submissions.
