Reabsorption is an important part of the function of a kidney.
Before getting into reabsorption in kidneys, let’s first think about how absorption might be taking place in a tube with an absorptive surface. This model will help you explore and investigate the process of absorption.
Play around with the model, change the parameters and note down any observations that you find interesting regarding absorption in this tube.
Some questions to think about:
When you set values of all your parameters (let’s say - number-of-molecules 300 and chance-of-absorption 10) and observe the behavior in the model, do you get the same observations every time you run the same computational experiment? Why might that be? In the real world, would those observations be the same?
What do you think this parameter ‘chance-of-absorption’ means in the real world context? What would that be dependent on?
