The fair is open to entries from primary, intermediate and secondary schools/Year 7-13 students:
Entries are now OPEN for 2026 fair, and close on the 28th August at 5 pm.
N.B There will be no entry fee again in 2026.
Entries
The Science Fair Coordinator (teacher in charge of the science fair) at your school must complete the online entry forms (below) for all entries for your school by the date listed above/in the Fair Information. You will be able to edit your responses (entries) through the form until this date. After this date entry details become final and may not be changed.
One school form needs to be completed by the Science Fair Coordinator, and separate exhibit forms need to be completed for each entry.
For each exhibit you will need to know:
– The names of the students entering for each project (maximum of three per exhibit)
– Project title
– Project description
– Project class (Year and Science/Technology)
– Project category (see Info for Students)
School form– 1 completed per school with teacher contacts and entry conditions
Exhibit form– 1 form for each exhibit entered
Judging will take place on Saturday 19th September. School coordinators will be advised by email in the evening of, to inform of students who have won prizes and who need to attend the prize-giving ceremony on the Sunday. School coordinators are asked to contact their students to inform the prize winners.
Conditions of Entry
The Organising Committee reserves the right to limit the number of exhibits per school and may decline any exhibit which in the Committee’s opinion is not in keeping with the standards of the Fair.
Projects can be completed individually, or completed in groups with a maximum of three students per exhibit. Entry will be declined for exhibits exceeding this limit.
The entry fee is $5 per exhibit. Schools will be invoiced for the entry fees for all entered exhibits, after the closing date. Invoices must be paid by the date stipulated in the Fair Information to ensure entry to the Fair. NB: No fee for 2026.
As a condition of entry exhibits, projects may be displayed on the publicly accessible fair website.
The Canterbury-Westland Schools Science and Technology Fair Organising Committee reserve the right to use prize winners’ information, including name, photograph and exhibit details, for publicity purposes. By entering in the Fair, permission is granted to the Organising Committee, host organisations and prize sponsors to use and publish the above details.
School coordinators are to supply a contact name, active email address and phone number. This person will be contacted by email after the Fair and advised of any students from their school who have been awarded prizes.
