Introduction - The purpose of this project is to show the impact social media has on young students and society as a whole. I will show case personal phone addiction using the results of the survey along with statistics supporting harmful effects of social media.
Survey results
After completing the social media addiction survey I realized how reliant I am on social media. The results of the quiz read
''You NEED to get a grip on your social media habits! Scrolling through social media is your number one past time - you're never off the .gram, or TikTok, or Twitter or... (insert your favourite platform here). You spend an excessive amount of your day on social media, feeling that if something isn't recorded and posted on one of your accounts it didn't really happen. Sleep, eating, work, even your relationships, are all suffering as a result. Did you know that, in a famous study from Denmark, adults who spent a week off social media felt much happier with their lives? They also reported an increase in real-world social activity and were significantly less angry and lonely than those who stayed on social media. It's time to take your social media addiction seriously and embark on a digital detox. ''

Reflection
After completing the social media addiction survey I realized how reliant I am on social media. A change needs to be made on my habits.
Interesting social media statistic
Reasoning
I feel like the misinformation present on social media personally effects me as a student. I am often required to find information and sources for assignments. Having to sort through misinformation on the web often makes it hardly to form fact based opinions and find accurate sources.
The impact of social media
Social media has had an obvious impact on society. It has allowed for people to find a sense of community in non diverse areas, founded social movements and activism that has resulted in real world change as well as allowing free education of learnt skills. That isn't to say social does not have its downsides. Social media has been shown to raise depression in teens at rapid levels as well as allowing bullying to thrive in the cyber space. The impact of social media comes with both positive and negative effects. However you cant deny the rapid change it has made in the way our society functions. Whether that be for the better or the worse.
What I learned
This assignment gave me a chance to dive deeper into the effects of social media, not just on me but on society. I had never really considered home much my screen time had effected my mental health or even my compression skills. It helped me look at what I read on social media with a more critical lense. I had always been aware of how easy it was to fabricate things on the internet but the statistic helped me learn the scale of it.
