In this assignment, I used the online program diagrams.net to create a mind map reflecting on my goals for this year to improve myself. I made four smaller goals and added three specific things to do that will help me reach my overall goal.
My Mind Map includes reading two books, improving my social skills, becoming healthier and learning to cook.
Through this assignment, I learned about the program diagrams.net which I had never heard of. I also learned that making small steps helps big goals seem less intimidating and achievable.
For Microsoft applications, the takeaway I had from all of these was that they are more powerful and useful than we realize. Sometimes we end up doing double the work because we don't know that there are features there that can do things for us. Learning about them can make life easier and save time in the long run.
In Microsoft Word, I learned how to make a document more navigable and easy to read. This is done by adding a Title, Headings, and Subheadings. This feature of Word allows you to use a Navigation Pane, which is very helpful when looking for a specific part of a document.
In PowerPoint, I learned how to make seamless transitions and how to make your presentation engaging, easy to read and aesthetically pleasing. A good presentation in any field allows the recipient to absorb information and it helps to get your point across more effectively.
In Microsoft Excel is where I learned the most. In this application, many things surprised me. For my major and the career I want to take, this application is one that is very important for me to know well and be familiar with. I learned that there are formulas you can use to calculate percentages, averages, interests and more. Also, with the feature AutoFill, you can copy the formatting from one cell to another which I thought was pretty neat.
