Unit 1: Digital Literacy

Unit Highlights

• Learned the difference between Hardware and Software.

• Learned how to share files with people you work and how to give them the right access.

• Learned that programmers use language like JavaScript and Python, which get compiled into binary using code editors such as VS Code.

• Tried to find myself online using google search and used advanced google search feature like Exact Match, Limit to site or Domain.

• Learned about parts of a URL such as protocol, domain, subdomain, Folder/Path etc.

• Learned what happens in the background when I click how the request is sent to the servers and the servers sends a response back based on the request.

• Learned about the older version of the WWW such as the Read-only web and Read-Write web and how they have evolved overtime.

Lesson Learned

This unit showed me the basics of computers and the internet. I learned the difference between hardware and software, how to share files. I also practiced advanced Google searches, including exact match and limiting results to certain websites.
