In this unit, I learned about data, databases, and how information is stored and organized digitally. A database is a system used to collect, manage, and protect information in an organized way. I also learned that there are different types of databases that store information differently. Relational databases organize data into tables with rows and columns, while nonrelational databases can store information in formats like graphs or key-value pairs. This unit helped me better understand how data works behind the scenes and how important databases are in everyday technology.
Lessons Learned
This unit helped me gain a much better understanding of databases and DBMSs. Before this class, I had heard of databases but never fully understood what they actually were or how they worked. Now I can explain concepts like data, records, queries, and database management systems more confidently. I also learned how information is organized and retrieved within databases. Overall, this unit expanded my understanding of technology and introduced me to concepts I did not fully understand before.
