CONCLUSION
This semester in the Translation Criticism class has been a rewarding journey, enhancing both my understanding of translation theory and my critical thinking skills. Initially, I approached translation with a focus on technical accuracy, but through the class, I learned to look beyond the surface and evaluate translations from multiple perspectives—linguistic, cultural, and ethical. The readings and discussions helped me understand the importance of context, the translator's choices, and how translations can reflect or distort the source text’s message. I developed a deeper appreciation for the complexities of translating nuanced expressions, idioms, and cultural references. Analyzing various translations, both successful and problematic, sharpened my ability to provide constructive feedback and identify areas for improvement. The peer review assignments encouraged me to articulate my thoughts clearly and back them up with theoretical frameworks, enhancing my ability to evaluate translations professionally. I also learned to recognize the fine balance between fidelity to the original and the need for adaptation in different target cultures. This class has expanded my critical perspective, equipping me with tools I can apply to my own translations. Overall, it was an intellectually stimulating experience that has enriched my understanding of the translation process and will undoubtedly shape my future work in the field.
