When using video clips, I like to play the video clip in the beginning of the unit without sound or explanations.  The students can record observations (evidence), create 2d models, and begin writing their claim (What do you think is happening?”)  You may have to play it twice for students to complete the work.

Later,  I use the video with sound to explain what is happening and letting students revise their claim and add scientific reasoning to their claim.
