Creditwatch is a non-profit organization set up in December, 1999 at Calcutta, India for improving access to credit for the small business and the poor. Although Creditwatch is located in India , the spirit of the organization is relevant for all developing nations. Our vision is to take credit to poorer agents and households in order to help them realize their economic potential. Creating perspectives for the small enterprises and the poor and empowering financial institutions for participatory and consultative credit planning as well as designing better credit delivery and monitoring mechanisms are the main aims of Creditwatch.
Creditwatch Initiatives have been conceived in response to the situation in India . However, we are sure that these Initiatives will have universal appeal and will prompt interested groups , activists and organizations in developing countries to take up similar initiatives , by increasingly using Information Technology for the benefit of the poor.
