Disqus is the world's most trusted comments plugin. By using Disqus, you and your students can communicate your thoughts and ideas and discuss issues that you posted for them right on your Google Sites.
Embedding it onto your Google Sites can be quite challenging but I will guide you through it one step at a time. Ready to try?
Step 1 : Create an account with Disqus.
Start HERE and you will get the following image.
Click on the option "I want to install Disqus on my site".
Go back to your Google Site's homepage and click the "Publish" button.
Open "Notepad" on your computer. Copy and paste the link to your homepage on your Notepad.
Step 2 : Set up your account on Disqus.
Fill in the information with your particulars.
For the website name, type in the name of your Google Site.
Choose any suitable category for your site.
Click "Create Site".
Step 3 : Install Disqus.
Click on the "Install Disqus" button.
Scroll to the bottom of the page.
Click on the "I don't see my platform listed, install manually with Universal Code" button.
Step 3 : Embed the HTML code onto your Google Site.
You will see the "Install Instructions" page. Scroll until you see the following image.
The image contains the embed HRML code that you will use on your Google Site page.
Click on the "Copy" button.
Step 4 : Embed the Disqus code onto your Google site homepage.
Return to your Google Site homepage.
Click on the "Embed" button.
Paste the code in the "Embed code" box.
DO NOT click the "Next" button just yet. We need to tweak the HTML code first.
Step 5 : Tweak the embed code. (This is a bit tricky. Bear with me).
The following is the embed code for your Disqus:
2. The lines highlighted in YELLOW have to be deleted.
3. Remember the link to your Google Site homepage that you pasted onto your Notepad? You have to copy and paste the link onto the part highlighted in GREEN.
4. Delete "PAGE URL". In its place, type " ' ", followed by the homepage link, followed by " ' " For example 'https://sites.google.com/view/creatingyourownteachingmodules/home'.
5. Delete "PAGE IDENTIFIER". In its place, type " ' ", followed by the homepage link (without the site domain), followed by " ' ". For example '/view/creatingyourownteachingmodules/home'.
6. The new embed code should look something like this:
Step 6 : Click "Insert" and you're done! See how it looks like on your Google Site by clicking on the "Preview" button. It should look something like this:
