Corotica was offered a writ for the laurel not long after she stepped down from the throne of the East. I was asked to add a wreath to her absolutely lovely Rose cloak, which was a daunting task. The original garment was produced by Vienna De La Mer, Kari Carlson/Phaedre de Vere, Sylvan Thorncraft/Sulicena Vassura, Katla of Viborg and Ceri Jennifer Callander. It was lined and trimmed beautifully, and entirely by hand. Picking out stitches so I could get to the inside and do my work was heartbreaking, but necessary.
I spoked to Corotica about her dreams for the piece, and we settled on a gradiant wreath in wool with black silk embroidery for the stems, outlines, and veins. We wanted to stick to a pallette that made sense with the blue wool cloak itself and the red and gold of the rose.
