Characteristics of Learning Styles

What are they? Three of your senses are primarily used in learning, storing, remembering adn recalling information. Do not underestimate your brain which can be trained to be synergistic and switch between styles if one is not working the most effectively.

Before there were computers, God granted us brains to name things, recalling, and passing on the information in a personal and effective way through mentoring. Which of these are you?

VIsual:

• Your mind sometimes strays during verbal activities
• You observe rather than act or talk
• You like reading
• You are usually a good speller
• You can memorize by just seeing pictures or graphics
• You are not too distractible
• You find verbal instructions difficult
• You have good handwriting
• You remember faces better than names unless they are seen with them
• You enjoy doodling

• You like planning in advance

Tactile:

• You like physical rewards
• You enjoy moving most of the time
• You like to touch people and not so much talking
• You tap your pencil or foot when studying

• You like to solve problems by physically working through them
• You like to try new things
• You are outgoing and express emotions by physical means

Auditory:

• You talk aloud to yourself

• You have difficulty with written directions
