  • DEADLINE for online registration is Friday, October 15, 2021 Register for 2022 STEM Fair

    • To register Click this SignUpGenius Link. Select the student's grade and add the STUDENT'S name and a PARENT/GAURDIAN'S Email. If you already have a project name or subject, you can add it in the comment box, but that is not required. If you are doing a group project, only one group member needs to register, but please add the names of each group member in the comment box.

      • Kindergarten – 4th Grade students may begin their projects immediately after registering on SignUpGenius.

      • 5th Grade students will need to complete the Project Pre-Approval Form that will be provided to them in class and return it to their science teacher prior to beginning their projects.

  • Please read over the Granite School District STEM fair Handbook. It will answer many questions you may have about how to get started and what makes a good project: 2022 STEM Fair Handbook

  • Choose a topic, 5th graders get approval from your teacher, and set up a Project Notebook to record all your information. The Project Notebook is a great tool, and students who use it will earn extra points from the judges, so document everything! The Science and the Engineering Notebook can be downloaded here: STEM Science Project Notebook and STEM Engineering Project Notebook

  • All 5th grade students need to fill out the "Project Pre-Approval Form” that can be found here: Project Pre-Approval Form. Please make a copy of this form before turning it in. K-4 grades only need to fill out the registration above.

  • Create your project using the Science or Engineering Project Templates: Science Project Template and Engineering Project Template

  • To submit projects: email Science or Engineering Project Template to CottonwoodSTEM2021@gmail.com – Please include STUDENT’S LAST NAME and GRADE in the title of the document, and "share" your document with CottonwoodSTEM2021@gmail.com. Help will be available at the school on Tuesday morning for anyone having trouble submitting their project. Students DO NOT submit Project Notebooks, bring them to school on Tuesday & Wednesday for the judging. Points are awarded for having your Project Notebook.

  • Judging will begin on Tuesday, November 16. Students may be called back for additional judging on Wednesday, November 17. Winners announced to students and prizes awarded at school on Tuesday, November 23. Email and social media posts will inform the community about winners. No in-person assembly.

  • 5th Grade students who win or place in either the science or engineering category will go on to compete in the District STEM Fair in January, with a chance to then compete at the State STEM Fair at the University of Utah for a share of tens of thousands of dollars in cash prizes and scholarships!

  • 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners in every grade will be awarded CASH PRIZES on Friday, and all participants will be entered to win one of several awesome prizes including an LED light kit and gift cards to local businesses!

  • IMPORTANT! If a student’s circumstances change after they register, and they are no longer able to participate in the Cottonwood STEM Fair, the deadline to opt out is November 9, 2021. Students/parents must cancel their registration from the SignUpGenius form on or before November 9, 2021.

  • Students who do not have access to a Chromebook, computer, or printer at home can pick up a paper copy of the forms in the office.
