While a certain amount of rowdy behavior is expected out of grade school kids, one of the primary purposes of Scouting is the development of string character, including good behavior and respect. Striking a balance between rowdy fund and good behavior is a matter that requires the proactive attention and cooperation of every parent. Please help us by doing the following:
Have a chat with your Scout emphasizing the importance of good behavior and good listening at Den and Pack function.
Set an example by avoiding unnecessary cell phone use and conversation during Den and Pack meetings.
If the Scouts become too rowdy or disrespectful, don't hesitate to correct them. With consistency the Scouts will learn what is acceptable.
When planning your Den Meeting/Activity, give consideration to how you will maintain the Scouts' attention and proper behavior... less lecture, more action.
At the start of every Den meeting, remind parents to refrain from cell phone use and conversation and help keep the Scouts in line.
