BSA has moved to Family Scouting. This means Packs are now co-ed, however the Dens are still separate. BSA believes this organization will better serve the scouts as boys and girls mature differently.
Currently Pack 674 only has Boy Dens for K - 5th grades. There has yet to be much interest in starting a Girl Den. If there is an interest in starting one of these Dens, an adult will need to volunteer to be the Den Leader. There also needs to be at least one registered female over 21 years of age present if there are any female scouts. BSA does state the ideal size of a Den is 6-8 Scouts, however, we have experienced that Dens with 2-4 Scouts work just as well.
If a group of kids in the same grade is unable to find a Den Leader, there are some options:
Create a Multi-age Den. This means there will be one Den Leader over multiple grades.
2. For Girls: Temporarily combine with a Boy Den until the Girl Den is more established. This would require agreement with the Boy Den Leader. This could work well for smaller Dens with only a few Scouts. Larger Dens with 5+ Scouts would likely need a second Den Leader in order to lead that many kids.
3. We would hate to see you go, but there are several other Packs around the Dry Creek Elementary area. If you would like to explore this option, please let us know and we will help you locate the right Pack for you.
