Common Pack Activities:
Each year the Scouts gain greater understanding, ability and responsibility in tackling these fun and somewhat challenging traditions.
CAMPING Pack 674 typically hosts one overnight camp out each year, most often in September or October. Additional overnight camping opportunities are available throughout the summer through the Denver Area Council. Information is typically mailed to the address on file with the Council. Note that youths can only share tents if they are less than 2 years apart in age and of the same sex. For Cub Scouts only, parents and youth in the same family may share a tent.
ROCKET BUILD AND LAUNCH This longstanding Scout tradition involves building toy rockets from kits provided by the Pack and then meeting at a location nearby for a supervised launch. Depending on location, weather, and time of day, coffee and doughnuts or a light lunch may be included. As available we prefer to partner with CRASH (Colorado Rocketry Association and Space Hobbyists) for their expertise and support.
GOOD TURN WEEK This annual event, held in November, is a time for Scouting groups to conduct a meaningful, visible service project of their choice in their communities.
PINEWOOD DERBY An adult/youth project that includes building a toy race car using the provided kit. The car must weigh 5 ounces or less and must clear the track. Our Pack holds our Pinewood Derby racing event in February.
BLUE AND GOLD BANQUET A birthday party for Cub Scouting usually held in March. Most often this event is a dinner but can be a dessert. A special program or entertainment is customary.
CROSSOVER The culmination and ceremonial observation of our Scouting year where Scouts receive their rank advancement and celebrate their accomplishments in May.
DAY CAMPS While the Pack is largely quiet through the summer, Cub Scout Day Camps offered by the Denver Area Council are optional. Three to five day adventures offered throughout the summer are held at parks across the Metropolitan area. Campers participate in programs including sports, crafts, nature, and archery.
