*MAXIMUM 15 LIFETIME SPARKS OF AWAKENING PER CHARACTER*
If you've read the DOTI and Other Dungeons section (go do it if you haven't), you know that each boss in DOTI (any difficulty - yes, including heroic) drops a Splintered Spark of Awakening. Two (2) sparks can be combined to create a complete Spark of Awakening; this is why even the most casual of players should be specifically queueing DOTI heroic ASAP after hitting 70.
>You can only earn a maximum of 30 Splintered Spark of Awakening per character, or 15 total Sparks for the character's life. BE MINDFUL OF YOUR CRAFTED CHOICES. You can still recraft gear as much as you like.<
These Sparks are a BoP crafting reagent from season 4 of Dragonflight, which can be used to craft epic BoP gear up to a level of 502... even if you don't have the relevant profession (but if you DO wish to level it yourself, please see the excellent guides on wow-professions.com)! This is done via crafting orders.
Every armor slot and weapon type has at least one epic crafted variant.
Use this macro to check your lifetime total earned Splintered Spark of Awakening:
/run a=C_CurrencyInfo.GetCurrencyInfo(2800) print("You have earned " .. a.totalEarned .. " of " .. a.maxQuantity .. " possible Splintered Sparks of Awakening")
If you already know how to place orders and add embellishments, move on to gems and enchants.
If this is a fresh 70, I'll recommend first crafting weapons, followed by a neck (probably Torc of Passed Time) and both rings (Signet of Titanic Insight + Ring-Bound Hourglass). There are no jewelry drops from DOTI, so 502 is the highest you'll get.
Use the Tiered Medallion Setting item from the AH to bring your neck to a total of 3x gem sockets. Use a rank 3 (gold) setting to add the third and final socket (one setting required per additional socket). Ignore expensive rank 1s, use a rank 2.
If you are unfamiliar with crafting orders and embellishments, please continue reading below. Sorry...
It's readin' time
A. Crafting orders can be placed by talking to one of three NPCs in Valdrakken: Clerk Silverpaw, Clerk Scaravelle, or Head Clerk Mimzy Sprazzlerock. All of them reside on the same raised platform in "the Artisan's Market" region of the city.
B. At first glance, the Crafting Order UI resembles that of the auction house, but they're a bit different. When you select an item for placing an order, it'll bring up a window with the standard AH-style posting fee, duration, and a commission. There's a drop-down menu on the upper right as well; this allows you to select between placing a Personal, a Guild, or a Public order.
Personal orders are posted directly to the specified character on your sever, while public orders are visible to all characters on the server with the relevant profession. Guild orders, however, are visible to guildmates only, and are currently the only way to fill crafting orders cross-server! All crafting orders are available cross-faction.
You'll also see listed the required materials and several squares with green plus-signs; aside from the Spark, these plus-signs denote optional reagents.
The player is confused. What does it mean?
C. Obviously, your Splintered Spark of Awakening goes in the "spark" box, but what about those "optional reagents"? Each of these fields can accept a host of variety of different trade goods (purchasable on the AH) for different effects. From left-to-right these are:
Customize Secondary Stats
Infuse With Power (not relevant anymore, basically GF'd)
Add Embellishment
Grant PvP Item Level (also basically GF'd, ignore in screenshots)
I want you to focus only on boxes (1) and (3), and forget about the other two. Box (1) can be used to specify secondary stats for the item via scrolls, such as Draconic Missive of the Aurora for example (vers/haste). There are also Draconic Missives for peerless (critical strike/mastery), feverflare (haste/mastery), and fireflash (haste/critical strike).
D. Box (3) is used to add an optional effect to eligible pieces, known as an embellishment. For instance Blue Silken Lining, which grants 879 additional mastery when placed on an iLvL 502 crafted piece. You can only use a maximum of two embellished items, but that does not necessarily preclude using two of the same! x2 Blue Silken Lining is frequently recommended, but feel free to experiment.
Visit WoWhead >here< for a more detailed guide on and a full list of available Dragonflight embellishments
Use all rank 3 (gold) reagents when making public crafting orders for the best chance of a max-rank (502) item.
