Mostly, Foodies is about Kindness:
The way our farmers and producers treat the earth and the creatures on it is kind. The way we communicate directly between farmers & producers, city buyers and groups like us is kind, understanding and flexible. The products are kind to our bodies. The way our purveyors work hard to get the food miles as low as possible and service our every wish, is kind. The way we, Coochie Foodies members working together as volunteers is kind. We are a good community and kindly look after each other, including the vulnerable among us. Over our almost 6 years of existence we have grown and we are still kind.
During Covid fears take a very pragmatic and kind approach to keep all of us safe and out of the shops. You do not get Covid from packing vegies. So all we need to do is pack in such a way that we have distance, regular sanitising and don't spray over each other and thus wear masks. For those that can't wear masks we have a simple solution: we will deliver to you and for those that are able, you can do some turns when this is over. There are some online jobs volunteers can do but on the whole, we are here to keep all safe and supported.
Our common goals make us bond. Packing is fun and social. We do a lot of sharing. People contribute what they can and assume goodwill.

is the only way you can be in touch online. It is a family farm that has farmed organically for years. We only get the produce that Ash grows. It is always the cheapest and very fresh.
Many Coochie Foodies members used to travel to the farm for produce
and have known the family quite a while.

The best purveyor with true ethical standards, sourcing all pantry, and so much more, products so that people have access to real food. Thor is the driving force behind this. After a PhD in Food Security he started to put his money where his beliefs were and sourced affordable good real food products.
We shared the Tarragindi Foodgroup
and go back to 2010.
Rob Pekin is the charismatic inspiration behind the CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) "putting the culture back in agriculture". Rob has many presentations roaming Internet and has had great success persuading farmers to grow at least chemical free.
He has excellent organisers running the wholesale warehouse, like Kathy and Anthony.
We met him in 2003. Russell worked the first database, long since superseded.
The stories we can tell...
Kin Kin Cleaning
A highly qualified chemist was noting how much the chemicals in washing powders were hurting people. He and his family did a tree change and created some wonderful products that even members who are very allergic to all, can handle.
Their story and much more can be read on the link.
Millen Farm
We have transformed approximately 3300m2 of underutilised public land into a nourishing food bowl. Surrounding the farming land are native trees to attract beneficial insects, a lush food forest, and natural water capture – all designed around Permaculture principles.
Currently our very qualified and experienced organic Farmers run this local fresh food hub as a profit-making enterprise, utilizing the majority of the cultivated land, by growing, then selling fresh organic produce through the online shop and directly to local food & retail businesses.
Stay tuned in this exciting time!
We all love The Microgreens. Here is a bit about them.
Thrive Microgreens are an enterprise of SERO4 who have been identifying gaps in services to women.
"Over the years we have engaged with numerous women who have had experiences that have impacted their wellbeing. Women have told us that increasing their economic and social independence has been their number one priority. SERO4 wants to help these women thrive.
We searched for a business model and a product that promoted wellbeing and could be easily replicated. THRIVE microgreens is a fresh and healthy concept, growing and selling nutritious, quality and flavourful microgreens from our urban farm."
Amy from Thrive Microgreens is the CEO of SERO4 which also has the The Women's Wellbeing Project and The MARA Project.
