A few tips for smooth running:
Russell (see Footer) is always available on Wednesday for help on with the process.
Count on getting 98% of what you order. Stuff happens to farmers who think they will have xyz 7 days before they need to deliver. Or all Food groups buy the same item and it runs out. Our ordering window is set to the last moment possible, so sometimes we miss out.
Be flexible, as in, work with what is because it is pretty good. If you want 1 specific item every FTN e.g. pineapple, we are probably nor for you because we work seasonal. On the bright side, you may also encounter unexpected pleasures of high quality.
Apply to be a member of the Facebook group if you have not yet done so, because that is where MOST direct and weekly communication happens. https://www.facebook.com/groups/coochiefoodies It is a closed & safe & purposeful group.
Set your calendar/ reminders for 1 wed FTN ordering (starts on 5th of Jan) and 1 Wed FTN pickup (if mask) at 5.30pm or delivery by 6.30pm. This way you get into the rhythm easily. You have to imagine your fridge 1 week ahead. Because of the great quality, we often still have spinach that is great 2 days before receiving the new one.
After delivery, we make adjustments so that what you get, and what you get invoiced for matches. That invoice is in your inbox at 11 pm on Wednesday delivery. If that one and what you received, do not match, we want to know about it the next morning. The slip in your box is your wish list, and does not reflect all at all times. If things are missing from there, wait for the 11 pm invoice before notifying us.
You can always check previous purchase and payments on your home page under previous transactions.
Payments are processed on Monday night. We are a money in, money out organisation and we have no fat on us. Some people prefer to be in credit, that is fine. Long debit is not possible.
The surcharge is used for computer programs, insurance and ute. That is it, no profits, keeping it very simple.
Farmers & producers who get a max 10 % from big supermarkets get 40 to 50% via this system. Our purveyors are for real and ethical. Our prices are on par with Organic fruit & veg in the big supermarkets. And that is why we do this.
The first, very ancient ute (bottom pic), came with Gabrielle & Russell. This Triton was bought March 2020 in joint ownership between Paul Tuxworth and Russell & Gabrielle. Both those parties use it for private purpose about once a month if that. It was bought with the intention to lease it to the Food group who need it 25 x per year for a trip to Salisbury and surrounds.
The Food group is not a legal entity that can own cars. Many a board meeting was spent on working out the ute. Many solutions were thought of. If anything is ever really wrong with it, we will have to get very creative. So far fixes has been done by the very handy ex farmers called Russell and Paul.
Out of the surcharge, the food group does pay the barge fee, the petrol used and a small fee for the lease of the ute every 2nd Wednesday.
That fee allows for small repairs. For example, we have had the canopy repaired, and brake pads installed. But what can be done ourselves, e.g. oil changes and so much more, Paul and Russell do.
So far it has worked but it is very much based on luck and ingenuity. The Future:
The Board has ok'd a 'fix the aircon' exercise and the money comes out of the surcharge.
The board has decided early 2021 that member can rent the ute for a simple $50.- per day.
Gabrielle & Russell bought Paul out in March 2022.
