Cécile Daimez

Cécile is a painter, sculptor, and performance artist. She creates ink works on Japanese paper that are free from any figurative representation and devoid of theoretical reasoning, developed on the principle of uncertainty.

Her sculptures combine natural elements such as stone, wood, and metal with artificial elements like foam and synthetic fibers. The forms are minimalist and restrained, devoid of any decorative detail, revealing a primordial space.

By involving the audience in her installations and happenings, the artist highlights the idea of art that is experienced, rather than art that is merely viewed. In this “A Sensory, Visual, and Poetic Happening,” she invites the audience to awaken their senses and their capacity for direct perception. 

In 2020, as part of “The Book of Offerings”, she created an installation intended - once the COVID-19 pandemic is under control - to allow people to perform the funeral rituals for their loved ones that they were unable to hold. It provides them with spaces to place their offerings, flowers, candles, incense, poems…

These works are on display in France, Belgium, Germany and China.

Cécile teaches Dharma Art at the Paris center and at the Dechen Chöling European Center. As Director of Contemplative Arts at the Paris center, she organizes Contemplative Arts weekends and evening events. She is a teacher of the Shambhala Path.
