Victress grew up all over the world as a diplomat’s daughter. After dropping out of the University of Colorado in 1967, she spent a year in India, visiting Dharamsala, Mussoorie, Sikkim and Bhutan and it was there that she had her first encounters

with Tibetan Buddhism.

After graduating from the London Film School in 1973, she returned to Boulder and became a student of Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche. She traveled with the 16 th Karmapa on his 1974 visit and produced a short film, Empowerment and over the next 10 years she was a member of Centre Productions, the film company founded by Trungpa Rinpoche.

In 1985, she formed her own production company, Chariot Productions and for the next 30 years produced, directed and editing educational and award winning documentary films. Her last two feature length documentaries––Blessings: The Tsoknyi Nangchen Nuns of Tibet and When the Iron Bird Flies: Tibetan Buddhism Arrives in the West, have been shown to audiences all over the world.

After retiring from film production, Victress began writing poetry and non-fiction.  She has three poetry collections in print and her debut memoir A Tree with My Name on It: Finding a Way Home was published in 2024 by Bold Story Press. It won the 2025 Memoir of the Year award from the Colorado Author’s League. In 2013, she was ordained by Anam Thubten as a teacher. In the past few years she

was been teaching Writing and Contemplation Workshops on line and in person and collaborating with Barbara Bash on a series of virtual AWAKE MIND workshops. She now lives in Davis, CA. near her daughter and grandson. Her son and two granddaughters live in Rome.
