Marcia Shibata
Marcia Shibata began the study-practice of Buddhism and Ikebana in 1974 with Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche, a Tibetan Buddhist Lama of the highest regard, a scholar and Master of Dharma and meditation. He was also a master of calligraphy, poetry, ikebana, theater, film, photography, and traditional Tibetan painting and dance. From 1980 to 1985 MS Shibata lived in Japan studying ikebana, tea ceremony, Kyudo, Japanese language and culture and kept a close relationship to Japan for a number of years after returning to the US.
She has taught ikebana in the US and Europe since 1983 and is establishing a fresh school of Kado Ikebana through which the Dharma is revealed.
MS Shibata has also co-taught the Dharma Arts series for some time in the 90’s and early 2000’s. She presently lives in Hamburg, Germany and teaches in Europe and the United States.
