Connect Care Training for Gynelogical Oncology
The suggested learning path for Surgical Oncology settings is:
Complete the Surgery basic training (outlined below) to understand the Surgery functionality of the system.
Add additional training for the Oncology specific functionality, such as treatment plans and therapy plans.
Completing the basic training for Surgery will provide a good overview of the core functions of finding information in the chart, writing notes, entering orders, and understanding the importance of navigators.
After completing the surgery basic training and passing the associated EUPA please complete the Supplemental Oncology course using the link below
This self-guided course has been created for prescribers who work in an Oncology setting who have previously completed Connect Care training and have access to PRD. This course provides an overview of Connect Care functionality specific to Oncology
Surgery Basic Training

1. Complete Basic Training by:
Registering for and attending an instructor led session
or
Completing independent learning online
2. Pass the appropriate Assessment to get Access to Connect Care:
Access is granted overnight after you pass the appropriate End User Proficiency Assessment (EUPA)
3. Attend a Personalization session:
Register for a personalization session to make the system reflects your favourites, preferences, and shortcuts.
Surgery Basic Training Option One - Instructor Led Training
Use the information below to find a date that you can attend, via Zoom, in an instructor led basic training session.
Click on the hyperlink next to the date to generate an email requesting that date

Surgery Basic Training Option Two - Independent Learning
If you are unable to attend one of the scheduled sessions, you can complete your basic training independently online.
The basic training course is delivered as a series of video modules that cover the same topics as the instructor led training. You can complete this training at your convenience.
The course you need to complete is titled Epic - Surgery - Independent Learning
To access this course:
Navigate to MyLearningLink and login with your AHS username and password.
Find the Required Courses tab.
Within this tab the Surgery role will be listed, click on that role.
Find and click on the Basic Training header.
Find the Independent Learning course and click the Register button on the right side.
Accessing the training version of Connect Care
While completing this course you will need to login to the training version of Connect Care
Navigate to https://myapps.albertahealthservices.ca, login with your AHS username, password, and RSA token
Open the Connect Care folder, then the Training folder, launch ACE5 or PLY
Login as SUR## (where ## is any number from 01 to 19)
Password: train
Surgery End User Proficiency Assessment (EUPA)
Before gaining access to Connect Care, all trainees must complete a short competency assessment, the End User Proficiency Assessment (EUPA). This is done after basic (in-person) training or Independent Learning.
The EUPA can be found in MyLearningLink, listed with Required Courses
Complete the EUPA titled:
Epic - CMIO Surgery Inpatient and Ambulatory EUPA, or
Epic - CMIO Surgery Inpatient Only EUPA
Access will be automatically granted (usually overnight) once you have passed the EUPA and completed On Our Best Behaviours privacy training.
When completing your EUPA it is recommended that you login to the Connect Care training environment.
Access
Access to the live patient care version of Connect Care is enabled overnight by automated systems after passing the EUPA and completing the mandatory AHS privacy training. Please allow time between completing your training and your first shift to ensure your access is in place.
AHS Privacy - On Our Best Behaviors
Everyone at AHS has to complete the mandatory Annual Continuing Education (ACE) Privacy and Information Security training module on MyLearningLink: InfoCare – On Our Best Behaviors. Your access to Connect Care will not be enabled without completing this course.
Complete the course by navigating to https://mylearninglink.albertahealthservices.ca
Look in “My Courses” or search by title and register to complete it.
Surgery Personalization
While not mandatory, it is strongly recommended that you complete an instructor led personalization session.
After you have access to Connect Care please register for and attend a personalization session. Personalizing features in Connect Care empowers users to make the system their own, so that it reflects their favourites, preferences, and shortcuts.

Supplemental Oncology

After completing this training the associated EUPA can be found on MyLearningLink under Required Courses in MyLearningLink
Passing this EUPA will give access to the Oncology functionality of Connect Care.
