Dear Members of the Board of Trustees and the WVC Community,
In my experience, Dr. Harrison is a good, kind, and decent person. And many of the problems at WVC predate his tenure as president. However, this moment calls for leadership. WVC faces multiple crises that Dr. Harrison isn’t capable of solving. In another environment or era of WVC, his leadership would be fine. But WVC requires decisive leadership that honestly deals with our reality. Dr. Harrison is not a decisive leader. Nor is he prone to open conversations that convey hard truths. He doesn’t appear to have a command of the facts and the different problems at WVC. For goodness sakes, he spent his first 100 days as President merely studying the college. We needed a President to hit the ground running with reform. He is disconnected from his employees - especially faculty. I’m not sure that he knows much about our student population or programs. He is too easily led by those he places trust in. And the people he entrusts rarely have the knowledge, experience, and institutional expertise to properly guide him. In short, his judgement, temperament, and leadership style are not compatible with WVC as we fight for the very life of this college. We need new leadership at WVC
