Dear Members of the Board of Trustees and the WVC Community,
Over the past three years, I have watched too many loyal, hard-working employees — people deeply committed to both Wenatchee Valley College and our community — resign as a direct result of President Harrison’s leadership. These are talented and dedicated individuals who wanted to stay at WVC, but felt pushed away by an environment shaped by his leadership and the behavior he has tolerated — and at times reinforced — among his direct reports.
Instead of taking real ownership for the culture driving employees away, President Harrison responds with farewell messages that frame each departure as a “better opportunity.” This framing not only overlooks the deeper issues but also minimizes their impact — reducing serious, ongoing problems to individual choices rather than acknowledging the leadership culture that has allowed them to persist.
Instead of walking around campus, engaging in open conversations, and building a positive workplace culture, he has aligned himself closely with his Chief of Staff, who serves as a gatekeeper and further distances him from the employees and students he serves. This has widened the gap between the president’s office and those of us working to make WVC a place where people truly want to work and learn.
I share these concerns because I care deeply about this college. WVC deserves leadership that listens, fosters a positive working environment, and works alongside us — not above us. I urge you not to renew President Harrison’s contract. The college and the community we serve doesn't just deserve better leadership, we need better leadership.
Sincerely,
A Proud WVC Educator
