Dear Concerned and Board of Trustees,
As I sit and reflect over the past 3 years and the decades that I have been involved with WVC, I am ashamed. I remember the time when I loved to go to work. I remember a time that I was proud to be an alumni and an employee. That has changed.
The lack of leadership at WVC is driving massive employee turnover. It is double what the previous administration had and almost double the national average. It has not slowed. We are on year three and the exodus continues.
The environment is one of chaos, lack of transparency, and erosion of trust. Most employees have expressed a fear of retaliation for any little mistake or for speaking up. Our culture is in ruins.
With the turnover at 50% over the last three years, we have lost our spirit and much of our historical knowledge of how we operate. Duties get added and shuffled and employees end up overwhelmed. Because of the lack of trust, most are afraid to speak up. Many who have stood up to express issues are no longer with us.
I'm not claiming direct and immediate reprisals; its a soft retaliation over time. This weighs heavily on employees and many have quit because of it. For those who remain, we know the stories. We experience the lack of action to resolve it. This is because most of it comes from the top.
The accountability for this falls at the feet of Dr. Harrison. Whether he likes it or not, he is in charge. After three years, he has refused to take ownership of the problems at WVC and continues to point fingers at the previous administration and the current staff. He has created this toxic environment through his lack of leadership and ownership.
Because I have no other voice for my words and because I love WVC. I am taking this risk to let my voice be heard. I encourage others to do the same.
Respectfully, Do not renew his contract!
