At Concept Architectural Designs, we specialize in accurate measured drawings, as-builts, and record drawings using Autodesk AutoCAD and Revit to document existing building conditions for renovations, additions, tenant improvements, permits, and informed construction decisions in Memphis TN, Atlanta GA, Central Florida (including Lakeland/Orlando/Tampa areas), and Boston MA. These FAQs address common questions about our services. If your question isn't covered, contact us—we respond promptly.

We specialize in measured drawings, as-builts, and record drawings of existing buildings. Using various field measurements and detailed documentation, we produce precise existing-conditions plans with AutoCAD and Revit (.DWG, .RVT, PDF) to support accurate renovations, additions, permits, and error-reduced construction for residential and commercial projects in Memphis, Atlanta, Central Florida, and Boston.
Floor plans provide a top-down, to-scale view of a building's existing layout as if the roof were removed, showing walls, doors, windows, fixtures, and dimensions from floor level up to approximately 4 feet. We create accurate measured floor plans using on-site measurements and verification for reliable use in renovations, additions, or permit submissions.
Elevations are flat, scaled, vertical views of a building's exterior sides (front, rear, left, right), showing existing heights, windows, doors, materials, and details. Our measured elevations are dimensionally precise and produced in AutoCAD/Revit for clear documentation in renovation or addition projects.
What does an architectural designer do?
In our business, we focus on documenting existing conditions through measured drawings and as-builts using CAD and BIM tools. This provides architects, contractors, and owners with reliable base plans for renovations, additions, tenant improvements, and permit-ready submissions—ensuring better design decisions and reduced field errors.
Do you do commercial or residential design?
Yes—we provide measured drawings and as-builts for both: residential floor plans, home renovations/extensions, and multi-family; plus commercial tenant improvements and interior documentation across Memphis, Atlanta, Central Florida, and Boston.

Hire as early as possible—ideally before design or permitting begins. Accurate measured drawings of existing conditions prevent costly surprises, speed permit approvals, reduce contractor RFIs, and support better renovation/addition outcomes.
Will you handle permits and other regulatory issues?

Note:
Without plans, a project may end up costing the owner more to correct mistakes by builders.

When is the best time to get architectural plans?
Obtain measured drawings at the project start—before conceptual design or permitting. This establishes reliable existing conditions, informs feasibility, and supports efficient renovations/additions with fewer revisions later.
What are the skills required to work as an architectural consultant?
(Refocused) Key skills include precise field measurement, CAD/BIM proficiency (AutoCAD/Revit), attention to detail for error reduction, clear communication with clients/contractors, and knowledge of existing-conditions documentation for renovations/permits.
