Start organizing muscles and nerves by ranges of motion now: Start the exercise we did in the LE joints lab for the upper extremity now and add to it with each lesson plan. This is an example of re-organizing the notes.
For each joint, list the possible ranges of motion (e.g., flexion, extension, abduction, adduction).
For each range of motion list each muscle that achieves that motion and the nerve that innervates it. You can use your notes to help you. For the upper extremity, also consider the cord (or root or trunk) each nerve branches from.
DO NOT try to memorize these lists. Just be familiar with them so you will not have to go through this process during the exam.
Take note of the ranges of motion that have no (muscle/nerve) redundancy and those that have redundancy (i.e., think about if a muscle is injured/a nerve is severed, will a range of motion be lost or weakened).
Map on peripheral nerve sensory territories. What ranges of motion are associated with each sensory territory?
