3D Relationships:
Our RAMs describe important spatial relationships among structures in the thorax and abdomen. Know how structures in the thorax and abdomen are related to one another spatially. Spending time in the lab and looking at donor images and illustrations is the best way to solidify this information.
Understand surface anatomy and be able to relate it to the location of deeper structures.
Understand the blood supply/venous drainage/lymphatics of the thorax and abdomen.
Sketching these out is helpful! Don't worry about making them look nice - this is just about testing yourself
You can use Avery's Arteries to help you sketch these out and test yourself
Know how each organ and region receives blood supply and lymphatic drainage
Know the names of the blood and lymphatic vessels and where they are located spatially
If specific lymph nodes (e.g., lumbar) are enlarged, what is the likely location of disease?
Understand important anastomoses (arterial, portal-portal, and portal caval) in the thorax and abdomen
