Know what types of fibers travel through nerves (e.g. intercostal, vagus, various splanchic & phrenic nerves).
Questions to consider:
Are these fibers sensory or motor?
What functional division of the nervous system are they from?
What structures do they supply - an organ, dermatome, or myotome?
Consider how a patient might present if one of these nerves is severed or compressed.
Know the location of pre-and post-ganglionic cell bodies and fibers of the autonomic nervous system.
