Winner of the Art Contest: "Abstract", organized by the Community Art Channel. Ignacio Harp is one of the winners of the second place award, which has been awarded to two participants.

Biography

Ignacio Harp was born in Bilbao, a post-industrial city of the Spanish north coast, in 1992, known for its links with England and a cultural hub of Spain.

From a business and economics background, he discovered a passion for art and literature upon completing his college studies, which lead him to travel through Europe collecting ideas and influences, mainly about nature and history.

He has a course completed in Creative Expression at “Bilbo Arte”, in 2016, lead by the artist Inés Medina, an international creator from Bilbao as well.

His first literary work has been published with “Ediciones Camelot” in 2022, titled “Incenso o Amanecer”, with distribution in Spain. He continues to work on novels along his discovery of plastic arts.

Artist Statement

These compositions are based on my emotional perception of landscapes and a desire to create post-modern archetypal figures.

Through forms and abstract shapes, I explore both the individual unconscious and the collective one from a Jungian perspective, seeking to revitalize symbols and mix past with future, being not only a spectator but a participant through the emotion of powerful palettes.

In summary, my goals are:

-Mix abstract elements with figurative shapes and symbols.

-Create a new symbolism from elements of modern and ancient cultures (Fishermen, Celtic and Mediterranean ones) and wild animals.

The main material is acrylic, due to its expressive ease.
