Schools in the U.S. want to help all families. Ask questions to help you understand how school works. Questions help you learn! If you don’t ask, you don’t know.
Questions will:
Help you understand school rules: Schools in America might be different from schools in your home country. Every school has different rules for attendance, grades, and behavior.
Make sure your child gets the right help: If your child needs more help learning English, special education support, or extra help after school, just ask.
Build good relationships with Teachers: Talk to your child's teachers to learn how your child is doing in school.
Prevents problems: Asking questions can help avoid misunderstandings or mistakes.
Show you care: Asking questions shows the teacher you want your child to do well.
Help with language needs: If you have trouble with English, ask for someone who speaks your language to help at meetings. Also, ask if the school can send notes home in your language. Be sure to ask ahead of time!
Remember:
It's okay if you don't know something.
Teachers want to help.
Your questions are important.
