Assignment 3
Goal:
to make aesthetically striking images in challenging lighting situations
Turn in:
8 - 10 photos with captions
Guidelines:
I want to see what you can do in situations with:
Low light (night/dusk/dawn; interiors with low lighting)
High contrast areas (light and shadow) within the frame
Silhouettes on bright backgrounds
Moody skies – sunset and sunrise
Contraluz/Sun flare
Be creative with finding sources of light, using shadows/silhouettes, working with blur – but all your creativity should be INTENTIONAL and MEANINGFUL.
You should demonstrate at least 4 of the 5 tricky lighting situations listed above. This means that it is likely you will have to shoot more than one scene & time of day.
Your images should be made in the context of telling a story - find candid, newsworthy scenes!
you should ONLY use manual controls
you should adhere to photojournalistic standards and ethics
Grading:
this assignment is worth 75 points
