Help! We need Columbine Quilters to share their passions!
Check out the Give it a Try Page under activities.
Debi is one of our very own master quilters.
Her work leaps off the page with color, texture and depth.
October she is sharing her gifts with us!

Debi Grundmeier, CQG Member—“Spirit of Quilting”
“In my life BQ (before quilting), I was an educator at the public school level as well as the university level. I frequently stressed to students that they should be lifelong learners. I think that is why my own path in quilting evolved from traditional quilting to art quilting. I love learning new techniques and styles, I love quilting and learning with others, I get inspired by challenges, and I love talking to others who love the quilting they do.
I feel especially lucky that I meet quilters in the two states I call “home”—Colorado in the summer/fall months and Arizona in the winter months. Quilting is a popular hobby for snowbirders, and I meet people from across the country with different perspectives, techniques, and skills.
In the trunk show I will talk about quilting “influencers” in my life—both short-term and long-term. Some of these quilters are teachers, some are friends. Sometimes the influencers don’t know me, but I get to know them on DVDs, YouTube, websites, or at National Quilt shows. If I’m lucky, I meet them in person. Some of these influencers are Columbine Quilt Guild members! I will also share my quilts and my experiences with contests—informal and formal (including juried) contests I’ve entered.” —Debi Grundmeier
Our October meeting and program will be at the Denver Church of Christ, with a Zoom link provided for those unable to attend in person.
The purpose of the Guild is to provide a warm, friendly atmosphere where all quilters, regardless of their interest or skill levels, are welcome. The Guild provides a full program of educational meetings and workshops to promote quilting and preserve the heritage of the art of quilting.
We are 36 years strong this year! Check out our birthday page!

What to do if there is a SNOW DAY on a Columbine Meeting Day?
We have a 3-prong plan:
Denver Church of Christ is in Jefferson County. We will follow the snow schedule for Jefferson County Public Schools. Watch the TV, listen to the radio, or check the internet to see if they are closed for our meeting date. If JCPS closes, the Columbine meeting at DCC will be canceled - BUT we will do a ZOOM so watch for the members email with that info.
If the snow or ice comes later in the day, the Board will send an eBlast by early afternoon to all members to cancel the meeting at the church. It will then be posted on our website on the HOME and CALENDAR pages. ZOOM information will be included in the eBlast if, and only if, we can rearrange the meeting to be hosted via ZOOM.
Rely on your intuition. If you have any concerns about driving on snowy or icy roads, get a cup of hot cocoa or wine and attend via ZOOM (if applicable). If the meeting is entirely canceled, grab a good book and cuddle up with a warm snuggly quilt for the evening!
