“But momma I—“
“Shhhhh, my sweet cherry blossom, do not argue with me. You need to sleep for tomorrow.”
A soft, gentle voice spoke to Cherry, another in the background could be heard singing a soft song to the lamia, which is especially effective and she soon fell asleep coiled around her mother who whispers to herself.
“I’m sorry my child, this is for your own safety… I promise we will find you.”
With that Cheri and Kura left their only daughter behind. In hopes she’d be able to survive as… well let’s just say a certain Kitsune was on the prowl at the time hunting down any powerful creatures.
When Cherry wakes up she’d wake up to quite the sight, while she is too young to know she woke up to seeing pools of blood all around her and bodies all over the place, namely lamia ones she even sees her mothers bodies. While this is an illusion Cheri casted on Cherry, she didn’t know this and still doesn’t know to this day. Suffice to say this was enough to absolutely traumatize and terrify the poor lamia.
But it also lead her to become the best scientist in the world so she could either find her mother or recreate her somehow. For years Cherry had this nightmare always playing in the back of her mind, always in her head and constantly playing in her dreams. She only saw one face.. the face of the person who she thinks killed her mother and all of those lamia. While both of her mothers are alive some of their lamia servants and friends were not lucky enough.
Cherry still thinks to this day that her mother is dead, and she has been unsuccessful in being able to create her mother or turn back time to save her. It does not help that she’s been denied by Colette in doing any and all of that research for some reason.

“Colette… come on just let me—“
“I said no Cherry, manipulating time is a serious offense that will incur many penalties. The same with reanimating someone who’s already been killed. So stop asking me for permission I can’t allow you to put yourself in that much danger.”
Colette said, turning around to face a teary eyed Cherry. The lamia was already sort of crying that she was being denied this opportunity to save her mother that and the fact that Colette may have spoken to her in a bit of a harsher tone.
“Y-you don’t understand… you’ve never watched as a Kitsune slaughtered your parents in front of you.”
Cherry states, the lamia’s voice breaking into an occasional sob. Clearly not able to hold herself together.
Colette sighs, walking over to Cherry and pulling her friend close and trying to comfort her.
“I do not know how that is. As you wouldn’t know how some of their things I’ve been through. Just calm down Cherry, I promise one day I will be able to allow you to search for your mother. Or assist you in recreating her in some capacity, you just have to give me some time.”
Cherry cries into Colette’s embrace, for hours the lamia lays there. Crying into Colette while she simply just comforts the brokenhearted lamia. After all she had been through quite a lot that year… and Colette was one of the first people she ever met that she had a connection with as she had been alone for a good portion of her life.
She’s been… unable to find a partner or anyone to be close to her besides Colette. This was years before she became the scientist she is today. And before Colette became who she is today.
