Instructions:
You will work in international team.
You will have 3 weeks for this stage.
Between March 29th and April 19th you should contact members of your international team online through one of the tools provided (Slack, Teams, Zoom, etc.) to organize and prepare your task.
On April 5th each team will have its own meeting to discuss process of doing tasks, results and plans. You will make a short questionnaire for an interview to obtain information on employers’ recruiting methods. Professors will participate in this meeting and will answer all your questions.
You have to arrange several meetings (except April 5th) to discuss and prepare the deliverable.
You send / upload the deliberable on time.
The Professors will give you information about firms, will help you to contact with employers and give you rules how to obtain an interview.
What should we take into account for this activity?
The time difference after March 13th between Moscow and Tarragona is 1h. You should consider this when planning your meetings.
Your conversations and work together should be done face-to-face and live (through Zoom or Teams, for example) whenever possible. Interactive real-time/audiovisual exchange and communication is essential for full cross-cultural experience and learning.
During this stage you will obtain information from employers – so it is necessary to have enough time to conduct an interview and analyze the results.
Task 3.1: WHAT are firms LOOKING FOR in new recruits? Returns to skills and learning abilities
Read the handout (individually)
Elaborate a list of most demanded skills. Critically discuss how these skills are provided in your degrees (team)
Task 3.2: HOW do firms recruit new employees?
Elaborate a list of recruiting methods. Discuss the differences among them (team)
Discuss the availability of data on recruiting methods (team)
Task 3.3: Generate and analyze data on employers’: expectations from young professionals (skills and abilities) and recruiting methods
Design a short questionnaire for an interview to obtain information on employers’ employers’ (expectations from young professionals (skills and abilities) and recruiting methods (team)).
Establish a strategy to select at least 3 firms and obtain the data (team)
Carry on the interviews (team)
Tabulate and analyze the data
DELIVERABLE 3:
Upload a Presentation to Slack by April 18th .
One presentation from each of the international teams with:
The results of the interviews – tables and graphics.
Brief summary of the main conclusions and a comparison of both countries.
Comments on the situation by gender.
Presentation time is 10 minutes
Discussion during the meeting (April 19th) on the presentation and results, comparative analysis. Basic questions:
What are firms looking for in new recruits? What skills do they expect?
What are the results and differences?
What is the situation by gender?

For all teams: Papers for Task 3.1 will be sent to all teams via slack.
You also look for sources of information by yourself in your team.
How will this activity be evaluated?
Teams will evaluate each other's public presentation and quality of the deliverables and team contribution to the discussion
Evaluation criteria
Deliverable 3: 20 points (10 points - team report and presentation + 10 points -discussion)
