A Livelihood Program Transforming Trash Into Cash For The Resident Of Barangay Nangka, Balamban Cebu

This project is an undertaking that aims to reduce volume of garbage disposed of by residents of Barangay Nangka, Balamban, Cebu through its segregation to bio-degradable and non-biodegradable but recyclable and reusable waste materials, which can be transformed into accessories for personal, home or office use.

Moreover, this projects aims to establish a well organized recyclable community infrastructure composed of the residents in the barangay aged 15 to 50 years after 6 months of training, identity potential linkages and consumers of the finished products through inter-agency collaboration with the DTI, LGU Balamban and CNU faculty/ researchers/extensionist proponents, the beneficiaries will be confident to establish the process of goods to consumers,strengthen the understanding of the process of the LGU based procurement in their quest infrastructure for recycling and to be self sufficient after one year,create a Trash to Cash (TTC) infrastructural plan that responds to the growing demand of stability and sustainability of the project, increase the awareness of the community of the pending environmental problems that may be evaded by simple collaborative partnership for the healthy-economically viable environment, and increase 5% the gross income of the residents and empowered the community of finding more ways to produce new products from the recyclable garbage materials.

This project is intended to benefit the constituents of Barangay Nangka in Balamban to become a model barangay for the other 27 barangays in Balamban, Cebu. All individuals who age 15 to 50 (the working force in the families) interested and motivated to augment their income and are willing to take their chances at a new enterprise are welcome to attend an orientation of the proposed project and then the skills training session. At present there are 53 beneficiaries of the project.
