A Cultural Arts Preservation Project in Brgy. Pulpogan Consolacion Cebu

Republic Act No.10066, otherwise known as the Philippine Cultural Heritage Act, aims to provide for the protection, preservation, and promotion of the nation’s cultural heritage. With this in mind, the extension team aims to establish a performing arts group primarily composed of LGBT and out of school youth. This group will be in charge of reviving the local history and culture of Barangay Pulpogan, Consolacion, Cebu through income-generating stage performances.

This is a cultural arts preservation project that hones the skills of the members of the community to develop appreciation for the arts. The project is set to be implemented in 3 years with the partnership of Tzu Chi foundation Cebu and the local government unit of Brgy Pulpogan, Consolacion, Cebu. A series of skills development training are scheduled as well as shows to showcase the output of the trainings.

Specifically, this project aims to achieve the following: (1) establish a performing arts group primarily composed of LGBT youth, out of school youth and or other interested LGU officials and personnel of the Barangay, (2) map out the local history and culture of the Barangay in connection to Republic Act No. 10066, (3) provide an income-generating project for stage performers from (4) preserve local history and culture of the barangay through cultural outputs; and (5) promote gender equality and youth empowerment through income-generating stage performances.

The beneficiaries are the LGBT members of the community, Out of School youth, LGU personnel and the general community.
